Synopsis: BLONDE BOMBSHELL won the Mobil Award for the best dramatic production of 1984. The theme of BLONDE BOMBSHELL is the loss of innocence, or more positively, the gaining of experience. Suzy is a teenager living in a fictonal Paeroa where they're still showing Marilyn Monroe movies and where wives and husbands refer to each other as Mum and Dad. Suzy yearns for something, anything, to happen to her. What does finally happen is the all too commonplace tragedy of teenage pregnancy. This is largely a result of her ignorance, which is in turn a result of the conspiracy of silence surrounding sexual matters. Out of this material Fiona Samuel has forged a delightful comedy and a gentle parody of a provincial New Zealand with some wonderfully wacky characters. In volume entitled THREE RADIO PLAYS.
