| Synopsis: |
JONES & JONES takes its title from the nicknames Katherine Mansfield gave to herself and her closest friend, Ida Baker. The play offers a witty and irreverent view of this unusual bond and the society in which the two women moved. There are hilarious portraits of the key literary figures of the day - D H Lawrence, Lytton Strachey, Lady Ottoline Morrell - and some devastating views of KM's husband, John Middleton Murry. JONES & JONES is funny and serious and filled with song and dance. It enjoyed a successful season at Downstage in Wellington in 1988. |
