| Synopsis: |
At a small country school, students are studying the Pied Piper. As part of their research they are painting a mural, on to which they place cutout figures of characters central to the story ie. the Piper, and the rats. Some off shore businessmen have learned that under and around the township and the school are tunnels once used to extract gold from the area. They want to re-open the mines against the wishes of the local people, hoping that offers of money will over-ride appreciation of the environment. Meanwhile, the characters in the Hamlin story have been living in a kind of time warp. The Piper had always intended to return the children to their parents once the latter had learnt to keep their promises and admit their crimes. The rats of course were NOT the ones who stole the goodies. They were blamed unjustly. However, one of the rats, eager to go home, activates the wrong sequence of events with the result that everyone from Hamlin arrives in the 21st Century, and complicates the quiet life of the little school considerably! This musical runs for approx. 1 hour. |
