Penny Black is set in Baker Street, London, in the eighteen nineties, and is the story of how Sherlock Holmes (Holmes Hardy) began his career as a detective and managed to get the money to support his opium and violin habit without having to work.
Dorothy Hardy (Dottie) has been searching for the recipe for cloning that her husband, Evolutionary Biologist Dr Fullminster (Fully) Hardy, had written on the back of a Penny Black postage stamp and then lost, twenty five years ago.
Fully has been locked away in the Mental Institute for Mad Scientists (MIMS) for twenty five years it is believed he went insane once he had perfected the formula and produced twin boys (Holmes and Watson Hardy) from two cells taken from the foreskin of his first born, Maurice (Morrie) Hardy
