Marjorie Daw
Poor Jack Fleming! The year is 1873, and the adventurous summer plans of this rich young man have been disrupted by an accident that has left him laid up and incredibly bored with a broken leg. He had planned to spend the summer exploring the Adirondacks with his college friend Ned. Unfortunately, Ned also had to change his plans, needing to care for his invalid mother on the shore of New Hampshire.
To pass time during the long, boring summer, the two men correspond with daily letters back and forth. Ned shares details of his beautiful, young neighbor, and Jack pleads daily for more details. So Ned shares about all his interactions with Marjorie Daw, who is also spending the summer on the shore with her mother. Through the men s ongoing exchange of letters, Jack begins to fall in love with the distant girl, and Ned reveals that Marjorie feels the same about Jack. But when Jack s leg heals enough for him to travel to visit his friend and meet the lovely Marjorie Daw, he is in for a huge surprise. No doubt your audience will be, too!
