The women assemble in the waiting room, Mr Hunter disappears.During their tour another member of the troupe, Sylvia, fell from a moving train and was killed. Was it an accident ? In the waiting room they find a newspaper dated the day of the " a accident ", a copy of Othello the dead actress was found with and the IOU made out to her by one of the other actresses. They become alarmed at the implications of these" Coincidences " and believe someone thinks one of them killed Sylvia. When they hear a train approaching they find the waiting room door is locked and the train's destination is not London. Each one of them can think of a possible motive for killing Sylvia. The situation begins to play on their minds alternating between coincidence and a madman's plan to find a killer. There is another locked door to an office. The women break it down as the lights go out. Ruth is seen by torch light and quotes from Desdemona's death sene from Othello, the play Sylvia was learning. Ruth crosses to another door which opens at her touch . She rushes in , there is a scream and a single shot. The tension is broken. No one moves.
