Mrs Tyler's Rival
There is to be a costume ball in the village.An elderly and respected lady, Mrs. Tyler is thrilled to have been asked to present the prizes. Two of her supporters come to tea with the news that another name has been put forward, the " nouveau riche" Mrs. Poultney- Smaile. The mayoress arrives to say that because of her generosity to the village in the short time she has been a resident would Mrs. Tyler mind yielding to this fur coat cladded Mrs P-S . Mrs Tyler agrees but is disappointed in her two friends lack of support who appear more concerned with recent burglaries in the village. Mrs P-S arrives in the now notorious fur coat to explain she couldn't resist the Mayoress's request. "Accidentally " her fur coat gets wet and tea stained and Mrs. Tyler insists on removing it to get dry, Mrs P- S is furious and asks for it back but Mrs T. holds on to it. She has a hunch and feeling in the deep pockets finds a number of silver teaspoons. Mrs T give Mrs P-S an ear bashing calling her bluff.. Mrs P - S demands the return of the coat . Mrs. T's conditions are that Mrs P- S leaves the village on an extended holiday or face the Police plus a written withdrawal from the prize giving.
