The Wall
: A short but powerful, provocative drama on the themes of arbitrary restriction of personal freedoms, the conflict between compassion and duty and the courage of ordinary people and the risks they take and the sacrifices they are prepared to make to hold the family together.
A woman returns home to discover in her absence a wall has been constructed in her city in an unnamed country, ( think Berlin ). She finds herself on the wrong side of the wall and cannot access her house. She is separated from husband and baby. The wall is constantly patrolled by armed guards on both sides. She asks for help from one of them to complete a tunnel under the Wall. A task that will not go unrewarded but he refuses.
On the other side of the Wall a man plans to cross by using a ladder. However first he must distract the guard. With an offer of friendship and all the beer he can drink he intends to lure the guard into his house. His plan is nearly derailed by the arrival of a disruptive third party. In the ensuing commotion the family is reunited. ( Keep the tissues handy)
