Cobbler, Stick To Thy Last
Though his wife Faithful isn't quite dead, Standfast, the cobbler, knowing she can't last long, has advertised for a new bride. In Nova Scotia in the 1780s, it is the only practical way to get on. But Faithful takes a turn for the better just as the local postman arrives with Susannah Comfort, a pleasant lass who has answered the ad. Faithful springs out of her bed, ready to battle. She is furious at her husband but rather sympathizes with poor Susannah. This witty, mature comedy ran for months at a leading Canadian theatre.
