Breaking News Bethlehem
This family-friendly short one-act is perfect as part of a church service or anywhere you desire a humorous Christmas skit with a strong Christian message. The play opens on the set of Jerusalem s evening news program during the census-taking ordered by Caesar Augustus. On-the-scene interviews take us to a Jerusalem marketplace and Herod s courtyard. From these interviews, we learn of a young man and his very pregnant wife travelling from Nazareth and of a star that s leading a man and his two friends to search for a newborn king. The news broadcast team feels they re on the cusp of breaking news, so they jump to their reporter on the streets of Bethlehem. She interviews a shepherd who tells of angels appearing in the night sky with the news that a Savior has just been born. The newscast and the play ends as the reporter uncovers the greatest scoop of all eternity: the birth of the Messiah.
