Nga Tangata Toa (The Warrior People)
NGA TANGATA TOA (The Warrior People) is set on a marae on the East Coast (New Zealand) in 1919 when a war-weary soldier, Taneatua, returns from Europe a hero. He and his wife, Te Wai, visit Te Wai's father, Paikea, a rangatira. Amongst the others there to welcome him back is Paikea's niece, Rongomai, who is out for the revenge of her father's murder... A powerfully dramatic play of family secrets, confrontations and revenge, NGA TANGATA TOA was first produced in 1994.
