'Hope Springs' is a correctional facility for teenagers. Sent to a remote island by their parents, pupils are subject to draconian discipline in the attempt to 'cure' them of their delinquent ways. When communication with the island breaks down, an inspector discovers that the pupils have confronted the regime and taken matters into their own hands...

This is the published version, which is a little lighter than the original version.

Teachers and youth theatre directors might like to know that the events laid out in Hope Springs are - sadly - not imaginary, but based in fact. Playwright Richard Conlon can point anyone in the direction of resources about the real correctional facility the piece is inspired by. Richard is also happy to make himself available to answer questions (through email or a zoom conversation) that actors and pupils might have about the play, the characters ot the reality behind the tale.
