Christmas is supposed to be about the good news, yet for Francine this Christmas season has been nothing but bad news followed by more bad news. Francine is the owner of Dave s Diner, a greasy spoon in the middle of nowhere; still named for her late husband. With the exception of a few regulars, her diner is empty most nights. She only keeps it open because she knows her quirky regulars are just as lonely as she is and without the diner, they would all be lost. Sadly, the continuous stream of bad news on TV and radio combined with her economic hardships and loneliness are getting the best of her. She resolves that this Christmas Eve is her last before she closes the diner for good. But a strange turn of events, bringing lots of new faces into the diner as well as the delivery of a baby, reminds her why she is here and who empowered her to be the bearer of good news.
