A snowy mountain retreat seems an idyllic setting for the ten guests invited to spend the Christmas holiday at Winterfear Castle in the Scottish Highlands. That is, until they learn they ve not been invited by the Winterfears themselves, but rather are the guests of a mysterious J.O. Kerr, an absentee host who never appears.

Curiosity over his mysterious host soon turns to terror when one guest is spotted lifeless on the rocks far below Winterfear Castle, only to be followed by another guest found strangled to death in her bed. Then comes the discovery of a twisted adaptation of The Twelve Days of Christmas that suggests horrible fates awaiting the remaining guests. Upon closer look, even the Christmas tree is decorated with macabre ornaments.

Why were these particular guests invited? Who is the killer? It s up to two of the guests, mystery novel writer Abigail Christmas and Scotland Yard Inspector Noel Sleigh, to find the answer to these questions before the killer strikes again, and no witnesses are left behind.
